4th Grade - Regions Reports (iMovie green screen effects, Podcasting through GarageBand)

Picture
One of the major 4th Grade social studies units is the study of Regions. As a culminating project, Miss Lukas had her students develop a newscast to demonstrate their knowledge of their region.  Students worked with Mrs. Booker on the videotaping using a green screen background and created final simulated projects through iMovie 09.  Students chose image backgrounds to go with their "newscast".  Click on the 4th Grade page to view the newscasts.

3rd Grade - Native American Podcasts and ComicLife Brochures

Picture
On January 31st, the 3rd Grade teachers and Everett Tech Coach attended the Northern Illinois Computing Educators Mini-Conference at Stevenson High School where we were introduced to ComicLife as a tool to create brochures, newletters, and comic strips.  Fortunately ComicLife was bundled with our eMacs and we were able to come back and use this software immediately.  The 3rd Grade Teachers, Everett’s Tech Coach, and Mrs. VanDerveer updated the final product to include creating a brochure on their Native American tribe using ComicLife.  Students learned how to use and modify the template, as well as import images and text.  Each student created a colorful brochure.  This year student’s created a PODCAST on each region.  Several students from each class joined together to create an oral podcast during the IRC time with Mrs. VanDerveer.    Mrs. Booker enhanced the podcasts with images and music.  The final project can be viewed on the website: http://www.lf67.org/schools/everett/teachers/NativeAmericans/Pacific_Northwest.html  Sample podcasts can be heard by visiting the 3rd Grade page.

2nd Grade - State Report Podcasts

Picture
Each year 2nd grade students research one of the 50 states and create a State Bag projects  Last year Mrs. Lipinski took digital images of the contents of their bag and prepared them to provide a brief oral report. Mrs. Booker created a podcast of each student's oral report.  Pictures and podcasts were united and published as part of Mrs. Lipinski's website.

Click on the 2nd Grade page to view State Bag reports.

1st Grade - Podcasting (Snowy Ideas)

Picture
Students love to hear their voice!  Each 1st Grader chose a favorite "snowy" picture to narrate.  They could only choose six words to convey their ideas.

Click on the 1st Grade tab to hear their creations.

Last year the 1st Grade teachers also created a parent presentation on reading fluency.  Visit the 1st Grade page to see the presentation.  Teachers used sound clips to explain the different types of fluency found in 1st grade students.

Kindergarten - Digital Memorybooks

Kindergarten is a great time of growth and creativity.  The Kindergarten teachers videotape different events throughout the year to share with students.  They provide a DVD of the highlights of events.

Mrs. Simala creates digital memorybooks for each of her students.  This includes work samples, oral readings, movies, pictures, and more.  Visit the Kindergarten page to hear Mrs. Simala describe the project.
